Why I Love Pairing Headshots with Interior Design Photography

Interior Designer Headshot in Green and Wood Kitchen

When I’m photographing an interior design project, I’m already in awe — the textures, the natural light, the intentional details that make a space feel layered and personal. But you know what takes it to the next level? Capturing the designer in their space.

I recently photographed a beautifully designed home for Jenny Welton Designs, and as we wrapped up the interiors, we carved out a few moments for updated headshots. These weren’t stiff studio portraits — they were relaxed, in-the-moment images that reflected her personality and style, set against the very environment she created.

Adding on headshots to interior shoots (or really any project) has become one of my favorite things to offer. It’s a chance to show not just what you create, but who you are — and that connection can be powerful. Whether it’s for your website, press features, social media, or client proposals, having high-quality portraits in your own space adds a thoughtful, cohesive touch to your brand.

If you’re an interior designer, creative, or small business owner and you’ve got a space you’ve poured your heart into — let’s document it. And while we’re at it, let’s get a few portraits of you too. You belong in the story you’re telling.

Make sure to check out Jenny Welton Design. We’ve been working together for over 4 years, and you can see more of our past shoots featured on her website too. She’s seriously the one to call if you're in Austin and craving a beautifully designed space.
