AUSTIN PHOTOSHOOT
LOCATION GUIDE
Austin is a beautiful city with so much to offer. After working with hundreds of people like yourself on a variety of different photoshoots, I’ve created this detailed and organized location guide to help you discover the perfect location for your shoot.
How to use this guide: I organized each location by Central, North, South, East, West & just outside of Austin. You can view photos from my past photoshoots at each location to get a feel for how it looks. Some of the locations require a reservation, entrance fee, photo fee - and that will be noted so look out for that below.
Indoor locations: I have a few of my favorite indoor location listed below that I’ve either shot at or have had my eye on for awhile :) P.S. if you don’t find a location that suites your needs heading to peerspace.com or wework.com and browsing the options can be really helpful. Happy to assist in this as well.
I just got my studio up and running in Spicewood (about 30-40 minutes outside of Austin). If you’re open to coming to Spicewood - you’ll receive a discount on your photoshoot.
Hill Country Home ATX | $150/hour - Wells Point Studio/ $115/hour - Mira Mira | $175/hour - WeWork has a lot of great office options!
I’m always open for trying something new, so if you find a place outside of this list don’t hesitate to let me know! I hope you enjoy looking through my guide and find the perfect location for your Austin, Texas photoshoot. Enjoy!
CENTRAL AUSTIN
The Boardwalk at Lady Bird Lake
You can’t go wrong with the Boardwalk! One of my favorite spots of the boardwalk at Lady Bird Lake is right across from Cidercade. You get to capture the city skyline as well as the beautiful Colorado River.
Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge
If you want to be immersed in the city skyline the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge is a bit closer in than the Boardwalk for more of a city feel. The bonus of this location is that it also has a lot of nature to take advantage of!
Seaholm District
If you want to capture the cool city buildings of Austin one of the best places to do it is the Seaholm District, right by the Austin Library. This location is right downtown and really fun.
Pro Tip: go across the street to Butler Park for a few more photos :)
Peace Point at Lady Bird Lake
This is such a cool part of the trail. Peace Point is a bit more private, less bikers/hikers and more alone time for great photos!
Lou Neff Point
Lou Neff Point is across from Zilker Park and has one of the best views of the Austin skyline.
NORTH AUSTIN
Brushy Creek Lake Park
One of my favorite spots in North Austin with tons of trees and a really pretty lake.
Pro Tip: Go on a weekday instead of a weekend as it gets very busy on the weekends!
St. Edwards Park
Such a beautiful park that not too many people know about. Very Texas/rustic feel with cactus, endless trails, and if you’re feeling adventurous and want to hike a bit there’s a cool waterfall!
SOUTH AUSTIN
South Congress
One of the most iconic photoshoot locations in Austin. The “I Love You So Much” mural wall, cool views of the city, The Austin Motel sign and so much more. You can really get a lot of variety wandering around SoCo!
Pro Tip: This is one of my go-to locations for headshots!
South Congress Bridge
Another iconic Austin photoshoot location! The views from the bridge are truly magical.
Pro Tip: To avoid crazy crowds it’s best to shoot at this location either early in the morning or on a weekday instead of weekend. This is the famous bat bridge so during bat season(late March - early fall) it gets really crowded at sunset.
St. Edwards University
This is one of those spots that gets overlooked. The University has a gorgeous tree (as you can see below) and will have a lot of beautiful wildflowers during peak season!
Eberly (or any one of your favorite restaurant/bars!)
I have done many photoshoots at my clients favorite restaurant/bar or a very meaningful place (first date, where they got engaged, etc!) This shoot at Eberly is one of my favorites. The interior design here is unbeatable!
McKinney Falls
McKinney Falls is truly one of my favorite places ever! There are two different locations with waterfalls and a really beautiful trail with trees as far as the eye can see.
There is a photo fee: $6/person for entrance and $50 photography fee.
Richard Moya
Another hidden gem. I love this spot for those looking for something a bit different with the old abandoned bridge, making for great photos!
EAST AUSTIN
Sekrit Theater
Sekrit Theater is a photographers playground - with a greenhouse, outdoor bath tub for milk bath photos, an old school bus, a flower wall, and truly so much more…there’s endless opportunities for really cool and unique photos! I say this is truly an Austin Weird location :)
Reservation required. $120 photo fee.
Mueller Lake Park
My favorite tree is a weeping willow so the fact Mueller Lake park has a gorgeous weeping willow tree, it gets major points from me!
Festival Beach
Along Lady Bird Lake you’ll find Festival Beach. It’s a great entrance onto the trail with a really cool bridge and tons of gorgeous nature!
WEST AUSTIN
Mount Bonnell
The highest point in Austin is Mount Bonnell so it’s safe to say you get some of the best views!
Pro Tip: I have a helpful guide of different spots at Mount Bonnell that are a bit more private. This location can get really busy during sunset so I recommend a morning session or during the week. :)
Laguna Gloria
Laguna Gloria is Austin’s outdoor art gallery. There’s a beautiful gazebo, tons of gorgeous plants and art around the outside of the property. You really can’t go wrong here!
Reservation required. $150 photo fee.
Red Bud isle
This is one of my favorite nature locations! There is a huge tree a the tip of the isle with large roots that makes for awesome photos.
Pro Tip: Mozarts Coffee is down the street, you can head there before for a little pick me up :)
JUST OUTSIDE OF AUSTIN
Muleshoe Bend in Spicewood
Beautiful location during bluebonnet season, but just as gorgeous all year round! Muleshoe Bend is on Lake Travis and it’s very private, not too many people know about this hidden gem.
$6/person entrance fee.
The Salt Lick in Driftwood
Salt Lick is another location that you may not have thought of for photos, but it has a lot to offer. There’s a very cool vineyard and the location is great if you’re wanting a rustic feel to your photos.
Chapel Dulcinea close to Dripping Springs
This is a free wedding venue, depending on date/time you can book a photo session here as long as there isn’t already a wedding booked.
Georgetown
Wandering around Georgetown is oh so fun! It’s a historical town with a Victorian-era courthouse (built in 1911) right in the middle of downtown.
